Large Isis

Isis was the wife of Osiris and the mother of Horus. She was said to be the brightest star in the sky, which vanished from sight for seventy days each year (the length of time it takes to mummify someone) then reappeared to bring the Nile floods. When Osiris was murdered, she brought him back to life by wrapping him in bandages. This was the first mummification. Many Egyptians worshipped her, as they believed she could help them enter the afterlife when they died. She also helped her son, Horus, to become king by kicking Set out of the kingdom.
