Medium Leather Fireman’s Helmet
A medium-sized, reproduction leather fire helmet as worn by the firemen at the Great Fire of London. Approx 39cm wide (child-sized).
Fire Helmets helped protect the wearer’s neck, as it had a large flap at the back. It would have been made from leather with a padded inside. Leather is fire and heat-resistant making it a perfect material for Fireman’s helmets at the time.
